How We Protect Your Data
At ProofBadge, security is not an afterthought. We have built our platform from the ground up with privacy and data protection as core principles.
Industry-Leading Security with Plaid
We integrate with Plaid, the industry-leading financial data platform trusted by thousands of financial institutions and apps including Venmo, Robinhood, and Coinbase. When you connect your bank account or verify funds:
- You go through Plaid’s interface, not ours
- Your credentials are never seen or stored by ProofBadge
- Plaid uses bank-level 256-bit encryption
- Connections are made directly with your financial institution
- We only check that you have sufficient funds for the transaction
- Sellers never see your personal or financial details
Sign Up & Log In
We currently only offer authentication through large third-party platforms you likely already have an account with:
- Apple Sign-In
- Facebook Login
- Google Sign-In
If we later add our own authentication, we’ll follow every industry-standard security practice, such as hashing and salting passwords.
What Sellers See
When a buyer is verified, sellers receive only:
- Confirmation that the buyer has sufficient funds for the item’s minimum amount
- The verification timestamp
- The buyer’s first name and initial of their last name
- The buyer’s chosen profile picture
Sellers never see personal or financial details, such as the buyer’s bank, balance, account numbers, or transaction history.
Data Minimization
We follow the principle of data minimization, collecting only what is strictly necessary to provide our service. We do not sell your data to third parties, and we do not use your financial information for marketing purposes.
Compliance
ProofBadge operates in compliance with applicable financial data regulations and works exclusively with SOC 2 Type II certified partners for data processing.
